Clicks and Dis-Chem rewards programmes

We’ve put together a simple guide to the local rewards programmes at Dis- Chem and Clicks, our 2 major pharmacy and health outlets.

Clicks ClubCard

How does it work?

You need to spend a minimum of R 10 at Clicks to use your ClubCard. For every R 5 you spend, you earn 1 cash-back point, which is the equivalent of 10c.

Before you start earning cash-back, you need to spend R 500 at Clicks in 3 months. However, if you don’t make the deadline your points still get carried over to the 4th month instead of being re-set at zero.

How do I get extra points?

Clicks has devised a system to help you earn extra points. If you purchase your medication from their pharmacy, you earn Plus Points. Certain items in store will earn you promotional Booster points, and Clicks will advertise Double Point days when you can earn Double Points on everything you buy.

How do you get your cash-back?

Clicks will mail you a set of vouchers which you can redeem against any product in-store. The vouchers are valid for 1 year.

What else do I get?

  • BOGOF promotions
  • Clubcard competitions
  • Giveaways

Is that all??

No. If you earn 240 points in 12 months, you become a Gold Card member and get the following:

  • FREE quarterly ClubCard magazine
  • An extra Bonus Point for every ClubCard Point earned over 150 in the 3 month qualification period

Can our family pool their points?

Yes.

How much does it cost?

It’s free, including the card.

How do you join?

In store or online, with a valid South African ID or passport.

Anything else we should know?

If you’re a Discovery Vitality member, you’re immediately promoted to Gold ClubCard status. You’re also liable for extra discounts based on your Vitality status.

Customer Service?

Their call centre provided us with excellent customer service and a comprehensive knowledge of the product.

Summary:

If you shop at Clicks, then make sure you’re a part of this programme. You are not limited in what you use your cash-back on, and you can take advantage of their BOGOF deals. Whereas BOGOF promotions on groceries often lead to waste, buying 2 toothpastes tubes to get one free is always handy.

Dis-Chem Benefits Programme

How does it work?

For a minimum purchase of R10 at any Dis-Chem store, you earn 15 Benefit Points. 100 Benefit Points equals R1. You need to reach 675 points before you can redeem your cash-back.

Basically, Dis-Chem adds on 2% off your total purchase. 1.5% of that sale goes to you, the customer. The other 0.5% goes to the Dis-Chem Foundation.

Dis-Chem has divided their benefits programme into specific groups, so that members can enjoy targeted and relevant benefits. However, you are not restricted to one of the below focus groups. For example, if you are a woman over 18, you can join the Beautiful Woman Benefit group as well as the Healthy Living group, and enjoy the benefits for both groups.
